Rep. Scott Storms Community Discussion in Windsor Locks

Scott Storms is Recognizing Suicide Prevention Awareness Month by holding a Public Community Educational Forum

A panel of community service members will be represented (will update with list in an upcoming post) to discuss what to look for in our youth who might be suffering depression and would be at risk for suicide,

The purpose of the discussion is to assist us in being aware of the signs of a person in crisis, understanding the effects of bullying on our youth and adolescents, and letting us know what community services are available to us to assist with suicide prevention.

Due to the nature of the discussion younger children may not be advisable to attend, but teens might benefit and be able to add to the discussion with their questions.

In light of the recent teen suicides in the state and country any parent or grandparent should consider attending

Win-TV Final Call Community Cinema Filming

WIN-TV’s 35th Anniversary:

“Back to the Future” Community Cinema remake

  •  The Filming and Editing will soon be finished and ready for Public Viewing, so come celebrate all of the fun and silliness of the many people who took their creative minds, time and energy to Remake the movie “Back to the Future”

  • There is still time left to get in your own “Cinema Creation” we’re taking in scenes until Oct 6th so call today to get your scene!

    What’s Community Cinema?

Community Cinema is a community project in which friends, family and co-workers who are a part of Windsor will be working together to remake a famous film.

In this case, because we at WIN-TV are celebrating our 35th anniversary this year, the film being remade gives a nod to our roots from the 1980’s….Back to the Future!

So get a group of friends, co-workers, civic organization members….

Then we will give you one of the scenes from the movie “Back to the Future” to remake in any way you wish.

    Creativity is the key!

Do you want Marty McFly to be played by your cat?

Or how about your toddler dressed up as Doc Brown?

Or maybe you want to re-create your assigned scene completely with Barbie dolls.

Your interpretation is what makes this project so much fun!

^^ Above ^^ Our after-school program showed you a crazy example (they even added in some BTTF Part 2)   of what things they wanted to do with our green-screen; but you don’t have to make it that complicated, trust us.

We’ve only got a few rules:
    1) Use the same dialog and action that is happening in your assigned scene.
    2) Keep within the original time length of your scene.

You have ALL SUMMER to re-create your scene. And we can help you in any way you need, whether it is to borrow a camera, use our studio, or edit.

In September/October, when you turn in your completed scene, we will polish it up and put it together with the other submitted scenes to produce a brand new movie with a Windsor flair!

Then we will invite family and friends to join us all as we get together at the LP Wilson to screen the film in October.

    Filming dates: JULY 1-OCT 6 | COMMUNITY SCREENING OCTOBER 21, 2017

Suggested Donation is $25 per team to participate, which benefits WIN-TV and its many public programs

The HartBeat Ensemble – A Community Art Project Worthy of Public Support

Our youth need creative outlets to keep them off of the streets which hold many opportunities for danger and trouble. The HartBeat Ensemble is just one of several Community Art Groups that offer the youth of our cities and towns an alternative to just “hanging out”. Most of these community groups are Non-Profits with little funding but lots of potential and dedicated volunteers.

Celebrate our youth and the arts by getting involved in any one of the many Community Groups – over the coming months we will showcasing some of the works and youth that are working in the Hartford area.

You do not always have to give money to show support, your TIME or Skills for many of these groups is actually more valuable. Reach out and support the men and women who are working with our youth to find out how you can be a supportive assistant to find out what their needs are.
