  • First Night Hartford is a non-profit organization run by a Board of Directors which produces this cherished landmark New Year’s Eve celebration.

First Night is a family-friendly,alcohol free community celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is a major visual and performing arts festival created by and for the community to welcome in the New Year. It is a celebration that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual and festivity. 2015 RiverFest ConnectiCon CT July 10 & 11

2 Cities 1 River lots of Food & Fireworks & Comic book Characters!

Yes it’s time for Hartford & East Hartford to showoff their ability to entertain

This year the weekend is an extended RiverFest with the addition of the Food Truck Rally

So instead of just the 1 day of festivities RiverFest has expanded into an multi-day event

With the Comic Book Convention in town for several days they added the Food Truck Rally this year to give the convention attendees alternatives for what they could eat.

The Comic Book Convention (it’s not officially ComiCon I’ve been told but I don’t know it’s official name at this moment) is quite interesting for those of us who aren’t actually all into the culture to see the true fans all decked out in their costumes.
Being a bit older & more than a few years since reading a comic book there are many characters that I do not know but it is really cool to see that there are more women characters so it means that there must be more super heroes that are women which is nice. (I was not really into the whole princess in distress thing as a girl)

Saturday is the Traditional RiverFest with both East Hartford & Hartford working together with shows, booths, crafters & performances on both sides of the river ending with the fireworks that it has been known for.
