CT Primary Voting April 26th

People are excited about this election, primaries aren’t normally high in people coming out to vote but there is a big number first time voters & conversions of parties this election so the turnouts are higher than normal…

Did you plan to vote in the Primary on April 26th & were you able to vote?

If you live in CT we have Closed Primaries so You can only vote in the Party Primary that you are REGISTERED With, many people knew that they were either UnAffiliated or Registered with a Different Party & changed to Republican during the proper time period so they could vote in the Primary on April 26th.

Some people did change but not in the proper length of time; which in CT is 90 days prior to a Primary if you are Registered with a Party to change to another party before you can vote in a primary to prevent any funny business with the voting & candidate selections at the conventions.

Sadly there were people that never voted in a primary before so they did not realize that all the years that they have been voting they were actually registered as a Democrat or as UnAffiliated or in one of the many 3rd parties that CT has so that when they showed up to vote their name was not on the book & they weren’t allowed to Vote on Tuesday April 26th.

Were you one of those people?

Were you surprised at your Voter Registration Party Affiliation when the Moderator Called the Registrar of Voters’ office or were you surprised about the rule requiring you to be Registered with the Party in order to vote in the Primary?

Were you given the option to Register into the Party? fed up vote republican

The Win-TV Ollies 2016

Windsor is a Family Friendly Small Town that Loves to have FUN!

It’s not got much in the way of “Nite Life” for the partying crowd (YET.. it’s coming I’ve been told) but it’s a great place for families that are raising their families & the priorities are safety & things to do which are family friendly.

While Hollywood has it’s Oscar Awards Windsor’s Win-TV has the Ollies to celebrate the men, women & children who make programming for the Win-TV Networks…
This was my first year attending & winning an award

{;0) It was fun to celebrate & act like movie stars for an evening (0;}
I was especially proud of the youth who had programming on Win-TV. Most worked in groups with teachers but one young man has started his own variety show on his own.

The video which they were making during the event is in the process of being edited by the Win-TV Crew & should be online & showing on channel 5 soon.

In the meantime I made a little clip of the Pre-Awards Red Carpet Walk & Party.

{;0) Enjoy “The Win-TV Ollies” (0;}

Paris Attacked

Feeling some mixed emotions over the attacks in Paris.
There was the initial shock of the attacks just like back on 9-11-01 of “Oh My God those poor people”…

There was confusion as reports came in of the multiple locations & different types of attacks & social media & news sources were all reporting different things as they got information

But then there was anger like when the 3rd plane hit realizing that we were under attack when hearing about the hostages at the concert location…

Anger that such an attack was made against innocent people
Anger that the the elected officials allowed for such an attack to occur because they aren’t using common sense
Anger that here in the USA such an attack could also happen yet the people aren’t demanding that our elected officials stop with the madness that allowed such attacks to occur but are again promoting taking away rights of law abiding citizens of the USA

Paris France in Mourning, Prayers & Flowers being left at locations of attacks

Today the French went to war with the people who attacked them.
The people while in mourning brought flowers & prayers to the sites of these terrible attacks.
Meanwhile the police were in search mode to get to the facts of who these men were, the elected officials & the military advisers went into action to protect their citizens.

The French Borders were announced CLOSED for the refugees.
The military set about marking it’s targets. Then today they sent planes to drop bombs on the their enemy.

France is making certain that the world understands that it is not to be viewed as weak & it will retaliate swiftly when attacked.

Read about the French Military Response here

What are our elected officials going to do here in the USA to protect us?
Why are the elected officials & some candidates talking about climate change being the primary danger to the USA when we see events like this happening?

Hurricane Gloria 29 Years Ago Today 9-27

Wow how time flies, seems like only last week when my babies & I experienced Hurricane Gloria on our own.
On Fox61 this morning the weatherman announced it was 29 years ago today that Hurricane Gloria was barreling down on CT creating some havoc

At the time I was living in the projects in New Britain off of Slater Road as a single mother with 2 small children.
In fact my baby boy was not quite a year old yet, my daughter was chatterbox happy toddler.
I thought I was ready for the storm since the apartment was a ranch style brick with a basement & I had flashlights, candles & my freezer & fridge was full of food.

I didn’t know then what I didn’t know at the time; had a good start but wasn’t truly prepared.
The electric when I was a child living on a farm in NY would go out frequently during storms but it never stayed out for longer than a day or two so I Thought I was all set.

I was not prepared for a week of no power which is what ended up being the case.
I did well on my own with the children but after the 4th day of no power I was concerned about my freezer full of meats going bad so we hopped a cab (my car was not working) loaded with the meats & went over to a friend’s apartment on the other side of town that had power restored & stayed another 3 or so days waiting to hear the power was restored in the projects so we could return home.

Fast forward to Hurricane Irene, Winter Storm Alfred & Hurricane Sandy in recent years…
As a family we’re much better prepared for extended power outages;
but the state as a general whole with all of it’s technological advances available does not seem to be.

Alternate power methods are not being promoted properly
Solar Leases are being promoted but the promotion of being Energy Independent Is NOT
Better to have our government buildings not just having solar power feeding into the grid but to have battery backup It’s nice that any excess power that is added to the grid can help lower to amount needed to be generated at the power plants but it is more important to have batteries storing the power that is generated first.

So far none of the companies that are being promoted even have the batteries as part of their plans & their leases are just to divert the organization that the electric bill is being paid to.
When the grid goes down the homeowner is still without power. When questioned about this the solar leasing companies have said that the state rebates will not be allowed if a person tries to go off-grid with solar panels & batteries.
This is something that needs to be corrected.
Our homeowners should be given rebates & encouraged to get off grid due to the aging nature of our infrastructure & population needs.
Our public buildings & the water companies also should be on solar power with battery backup with the gas powered generators being the supplement to them.
If the power production companies are allowed to continue to use “Loss of Income” as an excuse to Raise Their Rates then it is time for them to tighten their belts & look at how they are doing business….
but that is for another post

Do you remember Hurricane Gloria?
What are your memories & how did you fare compared to recent storms?

Windsor Blue LobsterFest 2014

Trying to get caught up on the uploading the pictures from the various events I’ve attended recently that I did bring my camera

Did you attend the Blue LobsterFest this year?
We enjoyed ourselves – music was great & almost every style of music was there; they changed bands I guess hourly?

The Sudsy Bubbles was a hit with the children, it was almost like snow in the middle of summer covering everything in the path.

If you didn’t make it this year you missed out on a great event & plan to attend next year

This is a short clip of pictures from the Blue LobsterFest 2014
